Invitation to the 2nd ISCT Convention

In times such as these, one is reminded all too well of Chen Xin’s beautiful writings. Perhaps now, more than ever, is the time to focus on those things that are most important to us, to celebrate the innate warmth of the human spirit, to bring out the best in ourselves.
We have a very special spring to look forward to in 2003, when it will be time to gather with all our friends at the ISCT China Convention, to enjoy Taijiquan and deepen our understanding of this art. Let’s all give our best to make the most of this precious opportunity ! there will be some kind of exchange demonstrations at both Chenjiagou and Shaolin Temple!
Many special discounts, including reduced hotel prices, have been arranged, and you are welcome to bring your family and friends to share the occasion. We’d like to have as many participants as we can, so please be sure to pass this information right away to all your students and Taiji colleagues, so that everyone can put their plans into motion!
Spring can be a hectic season for travel, so please take care of all your travel arrangements, including visas, passports, and airline reservations, as soon as possible.

Transport: If you send an application to ISCT, and get information exchange with ISCT, bus may meet you at/deliver you to Zhengzhou Airport or Zhengzhou Station, free of charge.

April 26-27: All groups arrive in Zhengzhou.

Louyang Longmen. ISCT and Chenjiagou will have an exchange
demonstration.
April 30: Morning: Sightseeing trip to Shaolin Temple. ISCT and Shaolin Temple will have an
exchange demonstration.
Afternoon and/or evening: Taijiquan workshops with Peishan Laoshi and Peiju Laoshi.
May 1: Morning and afternoon: Taijiquan workshops with Peishan Laoshi and Peiju Laoshi.
Evening: Closing ceremony/party.

May 2-4: Taijiquan workshops with Peishan Laoshi and Peiju Laoshi.
Workshops:
April 24-27: Xiaojia Yilu, theory and practice. Other topics.
April 28-May 2:
1) Neijin and Qi
2) Push-hands, Theory and Application
3) Koujue (Sayings) with the culture and practice
4) Niejia of Xiaojia Yilu
5) Taiji and Taijiquan
6) The Laoshi will accept requests for topics.
May 3-4: Lectures on the theory of Xiaojia Yilu, its history, practice, and other topics.
Costs:
Members can pay fees by cash after arriving in Zhengzhou. However, the ISCT has prepared an account at the Bank of China. You can pay by Euros, USD, and Japanese Yen. The amount of your payment should cover the hotel fee, the participation fee, and the tour fee to Chenjiagou, Shaolin, and Luoyang. After We receive you appication form, we will send you the detail program and method for remitance.1.Participation fee: This is a one-time fee, which all participants must pay, regardless of the length of stay. It covers the costs of the demonstration, translations, memorabilia, miscellaneous costs for the committee meeting, etc.

80 USD/ person for Non-ISCT attendees
2.Taijiquan workshops: One workshop will last for 2-3 hours. 60% of below price for full time students.
20 USD/person/workshop: for ISCT members: (15 USD/person/workshop for who attend more than one workshop in one day)
30 USD/person/workshop: for Non-ISCT attendees: (25 USD/ person/workshop for who attend more than one workshop in one day)
3.Lodgings: All participants in the Convention
will be staying at Weilai Conifer Hotel (A Four Star Hotel),

Twin room (double occupancy): 26 USD/person/night. Breakfast included.
Single room: 50 USD/person/night. Breakfast included.
4.Party fees: Two ISCT parties, the welcome party, and the closing party.

5. Sightseeing: This is a one-time charge for visiting three sites: Chenjagou, Louyang Longmen, and Shaolin Temple, that covers the travel costs and bus rental. The charge will be the same, whether you visit one, two, or three sites.

Other:
1. Meals: Many different kinds of meals are available at the hotel. The price is around 42 Yuan (5-6 USD) per meal.
2. Hotel services: Some are free for who attend ISCT convention, and some are at a 20% discount for participants. There are pool, sauna, and bowling facilities, etc.
3. Other sightseeing possibilities:
a) The ancient city of Kai Feng is an hour and a half from Zhengzhou.
b) The Zhengzhou museum has artifacts that date back 5000 years.
c) If you explore Zhengzhou, you will find a double-pentagon tower ( a monument to the 1923 uprisings), and an ancient earthen perimeter wall (now well-contained within the city) that dates back 3500 years.
d) The Yellow River Park (to see Yellow River), where you can enjoy horseback riding (15 Yuan for 30 minutes!), or climb the ropeway and enjoy the view, is not far. Explore!

4. Internet: With your browsers you can search using such words as “China travel visa”. There are many helpful sites which will give you an idea of what to expect, and what to bring with you. Health tips, personal safety tips, hospital information, customs, laws. Foreigners will need special travel medical insurance in order to receive treatment at Chinese hospitals.
